REVISING CURRICULUM REFORM

I want to thank the Minister of Education thematic curruculum has been extended to P4. The implementation is the question. Teachers have been tasked to teach loca language from P1-P4 and English as a medium of exchange.

This is a blessing in disguise because teachers have been complaining about failure by the pupils to grasp concepts in English in upper classes up to P7 where all UNEB questions are asked in English, some candidates fail questions because of an inability to express themselves in proper English and relate questions with appropriate answers. Thematic curriculum must be handled with care otherwise it may worsen performance at higher level.

However,Individual assesment as lower level is still a challenge, Where a teacher handles over 100 pupils in one class. How can  such a teacher handle individual differences?

Secondly, most teachers teach text books, they don't teach experience. This requires intensive and extensive senstization and orientation........
